Dog Olympics 2001
Triangle Sheltie Rescue set up shop on September 22, 2001 as part of the NCSU College
of Veterinary Medicine's Dog Olympics. TSR collected donations for t-shirts, cookie cutters, notecards, frozen dog treats
and the Garland of Shelties book.
The Dog Olympics featured several events for everyday dogs, including a howling contest,
the wiener toss, the limbo and a Frisbee toss. Every breed was represented at the Dog Olympics,
from Dachshunds to Great Pyrenees, and even a few Shelties.
Several volunteers came
out to support the effort, including Amy and Tom McGrath, Christine Merenda,
Diane Quintero. TSR staff included
Sherri Mains, Doris Woodwell, Lynda Schaffer and Mike Tickle.
There were also a few surprise visitors at
the event. Lady, who was adopted by Lisa Fody last year, showed up, and Ali, adopted
by Tracie Garrett last year appeared, along with Chance, who was adopted by
Eric and Francesca Banilower.
