Blueberry was adopted by Kim Oliver of Sneads Ferry, NC.
Berry was adopted by John and Kim Oliver of Jacksonville. Berry is a loving, gentle boy who has come a very long way. Berry was rescued from a shelter in Rocky Mount after 4 weeks and was thought to be deaf. He was covered with several hundred ticks & had been on the run for months before the dogcatchers could capture him. When Berry first came home we spent months trying to get him to trust us. He would run from all of us. Every night for what seemed like forever, it was an hour+ ordeal of begging him and chasing him to get him to come inside. Now I know why he was so hard to capture. He hated a leash (still not crazy about them), would only stay in one room in the house and bolted everytime we came near him, until it stormed one night and he was afraid. It was his chance to jump on me while I was sleeping. All four standing over me on my chest. Now he won't leave us alone! After six months he discovered the rest of the house. He takes shelter in the bathtub when the Marines are bombing in the field or during a bad storm. He now enjoys wrestling with Sassy his adopted sister also rescued last fall, and chasing the squirrels who have wised up to him by throwing pinecones down. I took a lot of patience, and some days I thought he would never be able to socialize, but today he is a different dog who we love very much!
