Smokey

Smokey was adopted by Dennis & Elaine Riggs of Madison, NC.

Dennis writes:

We have two wonderful shelties that we've adopted from Triangle Sheltie Rescue. Sadie Marie (we added the Marie part) is a 4 year old epileptic and Smokey is a 12-1/2 year old deaf and basically toothless sheltie. Both of them are great little doggies. Sadie is on medication for her seizures and she is doing real well. She occasionally still seizes but they are not nearly as severe or frequent as when we first got her. The vet says her blood levels of medication are right on target at the moment. Sadie was real timid and quiet when we first got her. She never made a sound. She is very skittish around men including me. However, I've been working with her and now she is getting very vocal and boisterous. She loves playing "doorbell". I ring the bell and she goes nuts. I tell my wife that she's protecting her "herd". My wife is ready to stuff the doorbell where the "sun don't shine". Old Smokey is a real joy. I can't go anywhere without Smokey on my heels. He's always trying to round me up. Smokey loves to sleep on the air conditioning vent. He likes to stay cool. The other day he came walking out of the bedroom after his nap on the vent and he had the whole floor register pulled out of the floor attached to his collar. He looked ridiculous walking around with a floor register attached to his neck.
