Bella (Female, age 6-8 (estimated))

I am a very sweet girl, but it takes me a bit of time to trust new people. I came into rescue with multiple health issues, but the fantastic people here have made sure I'm healthy and ready to enjoy life. I'm working very hard to lose the extraordinary excess weight I came into rescue carrying and my foster mom says I'm doing very well at this. I feel loads better already and can now go up and down stairs with ease. Just wait until you see me when I reach my ideal weight! I like the other dogs here alright and don't bother the cat, but I'd prefer a house with only one or 2 other furkids. Young people and their unpredictable movements scare me, so I'll do best in a home without little children. I'm terribly afraid when taken out of my safe zones, so I'll need a home with a fenced yard.
<datePosted>11/30/2009</datePosted>

I got a couple of medical issues that I need some help getting fixed. I need a dental and have a small growth on my face. I also have one behind my right ear. I'm currently receiving treatment for ear infections. My foster dad says my care will total about $350.00 green papers. Can you help me get well so I can be adopted?

Dutch (Male, age 5)

Woof, woof! My name is Dutch and thanks for checking me out. My foster dad thinks I should have been named Herbie because I am a real LOVE BUG. I am a very lucky Double Merle Sheltie boy, as I have vision in my right eye (and some in my left eye) and have some hearing as well! I love nothing more than lying in your lap and falling asleep. I get along great with my foster brothers but I will push them out of the way to get as much attention as I can.
<datePosted>11/20/2008</datePosted>

MaggieBelle *woof woof.. thank you!! (Female, age )

MaggieBelle is heartworm positive and needs spay, we are looking for sponsors to help cover the cost which is around $600.

Im MaggieBella, Maggie for short, and in the six weeks Ive been in rescue, I am beginning to see this as a good thing. I am about 6 years old and have lived most of my life in a puppy mill and was rarely around you humans. A very nice lady adopted me and realized that Sheltie Rescue could probably help me more than she could, so she brought me to them. I have already made a couple of trips to the vet and have several more in my future to get rid of these heartworms. Because I have those, I have to stay still and quiet most of the time, which is just fine with me!

My new foster parents are spending lots of time with me, more than I want actually because Id rather be in a dark corner hiding. They keep telling me that I am a beautiful girl and giving me hugs and petting me. That has taken some getting used to. I have learned that they are very nice and Mom now takes me wherever she goes in the house. Shes not too bad; Ive even gone to look for her on my own a few times. I dont know how to go up that long staircase, but am working on walking down on the leash. I definitely like women more than men, but Dad makes me sit with him on the couch which Im getting more comfortable with. They watch this flickering box and sometimes I stare at that, but I sure dont like it when loud noises come out. They give me treats when I sit with them and I have my very own rawhide on my pillow by their bed.

I like other dogs and the other ones that live here have helped me understand some of the rules, like going to the potty outside. I am starting to explore a little to find out more about this place where I live. I would really like a quiet forever home with a family who will give me love and some attention but nothing too overwhelming. I still have a lot to learn about love and trust so you'll have to push me out of my comfort zone without scaring me. In the end, I will be a wonderful pet.

Owen (Male, age 11 (estimated))

Woof woof, my name is Owen and thanks for stopping by for a visit. I am an older Sheltie boy, very laid back and don't demand much. I am content to lie at your feet. I came into rescue as a stray and a little emaciated but "good groceries" work wonders! I am quieter dog, but will let you know when it's mealtime or when I first greet you in the morning. Oh, and I am a bigger Sheltie boy, I came to Sheltie Rescue via Collie Rescue because everyone thought I was a Lassie dog.
<datePosted>3/2/2009</datePosted>
